The new lens incorporates Sigma’s original anti-shake compensation function (OS) with a powerful 13.8 times zoom ratio. With four Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements and three aspherical lens elements, the lens ensures excellent image quality throughout the entire zoom range. A minimum focusing distance of 45 cm at all focal lengths and a maximum magnification of 1:3.4 reproduction ratio make this lens ideal for close-up photography. An inner focusing system eliminates front lens rotation, making the lens suitable for use with circular polarizing filters and the supplied petal-type hood. The Super Multi Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting.
The Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM includes a case and petal-type lens hood. The suggested retail price of the lens is $849.95. Canon and Sigma versions will begin shipping March 2009.
