Gentec International, the exclusive Canadian distributor of Sigma lenses, announces the addition of the updated Sigma 1.4x (TC-1401) and 2x (TC-2001) teleconverters to the Sigma lens lineup.

Both models incorporate SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements that offer excellent aberration correction. The teleconverters are built for professional use, using durable construction with dust and splash-proof materials. Their compact and lightweight design makes it easy to keep with any lens for easy extension of the focal range.

The Sigma TC-1401 and TC-2001 will be available in November and have a suggested retail price of $399.95 and $499.95 respectively. The new teleconverters will be available in Sigma, Canon and Nikon mounts.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Incorporation of SLD glass elements for improved image quality
Standing behind the desire to create the ultimate in image quality, Sigma has incorporated 1 SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass element in the 1.4x converter, and 2 SLD elements in the 2x converter. These minimize chromatic aberration and allow lenses to maintain their optical quality.

Durable dust and splash-proof construction for professional use
Both teleconverters incorporate the high quality dust and splash-proof designs for long-lasting durability, especially when shooting in adverse conditions, such as rain and snow.

Compatible with autofocus systems up to F8
When attached to camera bodies capable of autofocus at F8, the Sigma teleconverters are capable of shooting with autofocus.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

Brass bayonet mount
A specially treated brass bayonet mount ensures maximum precision, greater strength, and superior durability for long-term use.

Evaluation with Sigma’s “A1” MTF measuring system
Replacing an MTF measuring system using conventional sensors, Sigma now employs a proprietary MTF (modulation transfer function) measuring system (A1) using 46-megapixel Foveon direct image sensors. Previously undetectable high-frequency details are now within the scope of Sigma’s quality control inspections.

Made in Japan
All Sigma’s manufacturing, including molds and parts, is carried out under an integrated production system entirely in Japan. Sigma is now one of the very few manufacturers whose products are solely “made in Japan”, with each product reflecting a combination of expertise, advanced technology, and genuine craftsmanship.

Canadian Warranty
Like all Sigma lenses, this lens is backed by a comprehensive seven-year Canadian warranty.
