A leader in retail and distribution starting at the age of sixteen, Joel has built a reputation in Canada and the United States for bringing new products to market and delivering high levels of consumer satisfaction. Guided by his experience, expertise and creativity, Gentec has expanded into several markets of leading consumer products. As a testament to Joel’s leadership, the company prides itself on long term partnerships with staff, suppliers and customers, and he is now proud to name two of his sons among those staff.
Joel has received numerous industry awards, including Ernst & Young’s Canadian Entrepreneur of the Year and Deloitte’s Best Managed Private Companies in Canada. He dedicates a great deal of his time and energy to philanthropic work, including as a founding member of the Leadership Sinai Group of the Mount Sinai Hospital, for whom he has helped to raise millions of dollars. The American Jewish Committee presented Joel with its prestigious Imaging Division Human Relations Award for his professional achievements and devotion to philanthropy and communal responsibility.
